“Why are we more lighthearted around other hāfu?”

We are lighthearted (relaxed) around other Hafu because we feel safe. We trust. We have faith that other Hafu will understand too, this mixed culture experience of love that is inclusive.
Great question! I think it’s because we can relate to things in our households growing up in a household which is international with one Jpnse parent and the other from another country. There’s always going to be stuff we’ve experienced, with my haafu friends anyway, that is humorous and interesting and we can appreciate Japan for all its positives and of course acknowledge the negatives although we might not agree on all of it.
Plus a lot of us want to learn more about the other haafu person’s experiences as a mixed of mixed ethnicities and culture.
