Nope, never! If I did I would just brush my shoulders off and move on to people who aren’t like that! And I hope and pray that is everyone’s experience as well!
Not really but honestly I didn’t live on the West Coast so the Jpnse community I was exposed to were for the most part, Japanese housewives and thus friends of my mom. Those ladies’ children were friends early on but we drifted apart from most of them as we got older. My mom did have an Asian food store so when I was helping I met some Nikkei but was really too young to have a good conversation with adults, hah hah.
I have a number of Nikkei friends, mostly from US, Canada and Brasil, that I met in Japan. Absolutely adore the Brasileros, so kind and sweet, and love my American Nikkei friends, it’s those Canadian ones that are trouble, hahahahaha. Just kidding.
Such an amazing background! You speak so many languages Nana!
All the best!!!
