I encounter know-it-all types who are really into Japanese culture and they try to educate me on Japan. That’s annoying.
I do. Because people say things they do not fully understand. If they speak and say things about Japan to or around you, right away youre conceiving of what they only know. When this usually happens , it often displays moments of unnecessary free form of speeches and results to dis respectful behaviours. If they know what they’re talking about it is respectful however. This is just personal case though living here in AZ
No, that sounds a bit ethnocentric and egocentric. Besides I’m a daibeteran so I know all, hahahahahahaha. #joke
I try to politely correct them. It’s up to them whether they want to continue their beliefs. I did my job.

I use to be when I was younger. Now not so much.
I was at a friend’s place for lunch and her inlaws were there, too. The father was telling us how made wine from rice, “saaakeee”.
Me: “Actually, it’s called さけ。
Mother: “No, it’s “saaa-keee” – “saaa-keee”! ”
LOL!
I try not to correct pronunciation… because we pronounce German, French and Spanish words etc. Incorrectly with the English language who am l to correct anyone? Lol. Sometimes hard not to.
